Former Catholic standout Henning named MVC Freshman of the Year

Four Indiana State softball players received postseason honors Wednesday as the Missouri Valley Conference announced its 2021 All-Conference Softball Teams. Bella PetersonLexie SiwekIsabella Henning and Olivia Patton collected MVC honors from the League office.

For the first time in program history, Isabella Henning earned Freshman of the Year. Henning also brought in All-MVC Second Team honors, becoming the 25th Sycamore with the honor.

Bella Peterson and Lexie Siwek earned First Team All-MVC becoming the 21st and 22nd Sycamore to earn the award. Olivia Patton became the sixth Sycamore to earn All-Defensive Team honors.

Peterson finished the regular season with a .353 batting average, which ranked ninth in The Valley. Peterson was ranked third in hits (54), first in doubles (19), fifth in slugging percentage (.641), second in RBIs (39) and seventh in home runs (7).

Siwek finished the regular season with a .395 batting average ranking sixth overall in the conference and ranked seventh in hits with 47.

Henning’s .318 batting average ranked 17th in the Valley, she was tied for second in doubles (12), sixth in home runs (8) and eighth in slugging percentage (.591).

Patton finished the year with a .929 fielding percentage, the center fielder recorded a career-high 51 putouts on the year.
