The Lady Panthers used a big offensive night to blank PRP 14-0 in just four innings.
Hattie Newman and Millie Robers each had a homer and a double to go along with two runs. Roberts drove in four, while Newman and Seana Leibfried knocked in two each. Katie Mewe had three hits, while Abby Newman crossed the plated three times.
Greysee Whiteker gave up two hits and struck out two. She also scored twice to help her cause.
DC continues play at Meade County today as they take on Franklin County and Assumption.
Owensboro Catholic 9, Ohio County 2
Lilli Grant knocked in five runs with a pair of doubles to lead the offense as Owensboro Catholic rolled to a 9-2 win over Ohio County.
Brooke Hamilton added a pair of hits and runs on offense, and she struck out five in three innings in the circle. Camille Conkright scored twice and Hannah Carter had two hits, while Lexi Hatchett got the pitching win after giving up no runs on a pair of hits in 3.2 innings.
Catholic hosts Jasper (Ind.) and Breckinridge County today at OC.
Butler County 8, Apollo 7
A late rally fell short, as six runs in the final two innings wasn’t enough for Apollo in an 8-7 loss to Butler County.
Butler County jumped in front early with a three-run first inning then doubled their lead in the third. They added a pair n the sixth to stretch the lead to 8-1 before the E-Gals made a run.
Katie Palmer hit home runs to get the scoring going in each of Apollo’s three-run innings. She also drove in a run in the third to put the E-Gals on the board.
Abbie Gore added three hits including a double that drove in two to cut the deficit to 8-7 with two outs in the seventh inning. Macy Calhoun notched two hits and two runs, and Morgan Julian had two hits.
Apollo plays today at McLean County.
Breckinridge County 12, Owensboro 9
The Lady Devils came up short in a 13-9 home loss to Breckinridge County despite giving up only two earned runs.
Kaylyn Sowders led the offense with two hits, two runs and five RBIs. Lindsey Gibson and Brooklyn Keller each had a pair of hits, while Addison Hill scored three times and Lauren Hughes scored twice.
Keller pitched 4.2 innings, 10 runs (two earned) on nine hits. Hughes went the final 2.1, giving up one hit and three runs (zero earned) with four strikeouts.
Owensboro plays a doubleheader today at Fort Campbell.
