UPDATE: The game has been moved to 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Daviess County and Owensboro Catholic are set to go toe-to-toe for the 9th District Championship after putting on offensive clinics in the semifinal games.

Owensboro Catholic pushed their way to the championship game with a dominant performance on both sides of the field from Hadley Phelps.

Phelps had total control of the game from the circle, only allowing six hits, while also going 4-5 at the plate with an RBI.

Pair that with a dominant performance offensively from the entire Lady Aces lineup, who had seven players registering at least a hit and an RBI and you have a team that’s poised to fight for the 9th District title.

Meanwhile, Daviess County waltzed to the 9th District Championship behind a perfect game from Raylee Roby, throwing five innings and striking out 10.

There was no shortage of offense either, quickly taking a 7-0 run going into the fourth inning in large part to a five-run second inning.

Hattie Newman — who homered in the game — Millie Roberts, Jessie Daniels, Seana Leibfried and Katie Mewes each scored twice in the win

Head Coach John Biggs said the team isn’t very experienced when it comes to those that have played district games, but it didn’t show in the semis and the Lady Panthers are ready to go to battle with Owensboro Catholic.

The two teams are set to face off at 5:30 p.m. at Owensboro Catholic High School.
