The Owensboro RiverDawgs never trailed Tuesday as they took down the Madisonville Miners 6-2 to start the season 3-1.

Owensboro led 2-1 after three and added a run in the fifth and seventh innings to lead 4-1 heading into the final two frames. The RiverDawgs got a little more insurance with two runs on the top of the eighth as Madisonville attempted a comeback in the ninth but could only score one.

Chase Harlan earned the win for Owensboro as he went five innings and struck out five batters while allowing five hits and no unearned runs. Three RiverDawgs relievers combined for four innings of work and struck out six while allowing just two hits.

Derric Jeffers led the RiverDawgs at the plate as he went 2-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and three runs. Cameron Nicholas added a single and two RBIs while Paul Coumoulos had the other Owensboro RBI.

The RiverDawgs go for 4-1 tonight when they take on the Full Count Rhythm in Hendersonville, Tennessee. This is the Rhythm’s first year in the Ohio Valley League.
