The 12u Owensboro Eastern All-Stars are rolling in the Cal Ripken World Series, winning its third straight by defeating Rockville, Virginia, 3-2.
It was a pitchers duel in the sunshine state, with Owensboro Eastern holding Rockville to just six hits on the day.
Jayden James got the starting nod, tossing five innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out eight.
Eastern’s had multiple players create offense on the day, with Ross Milburn, Gunnar Hendricks, Peyton Isbell and Logan Trone all earning one hit. Trone’s lone hit was a long ball in the second that set the tone for Owensboro.
While they may have not had an outpouring of hits, their pitching and spotless fielding led to a 3-2 victory after Dremail Carothers came in and closed the door.
The win moves Eastern to 3-0 overall guaranteeing them a spot in the top-nine of their pool, with them fighting for a No. 1 seed.
Owensboro will find out what seed they will earn following its game on Wednesday, when they take on the host team of Palm Beach Gardens at 6 p.m.
