A number of local boys golf teams competed at Ben Hawes Municipal Golf Course on Monday, with Owensboro Catholic coming away victorious as a team and individually.
The Aces grabbed first with an overall score of 160, Daviess County earned second with a score of 164 and Ohio County finished third with a score of 169.
Hancock County came in fourth with a score of 182, while Apollo wrapped up team scores with a total of 196.
Jakob Wellman led the way for Owensboro Catholic once again, shooting an event-high 33 on the day.
JT Payne followed closely behind with a 39—putting him in a three-way tie for third with Jacob Blackburn and Seth Moore of Ohio County—while teammates Houston Danzer and Noah Johnson finished with a 43 and 45 respectively.
Grant Broughton grabbed second place individually for Daviess County. Dawson Lamb was four strokes behind with a 40, while Grayson Powers finished with a 43 and Gabe Vincent finished with a 45.
Trevor Cecil scored a 43 to lead the Eagles on the day, while Ethan Clements and Caleb Poe scored 50’s and Mason Julian scored a 53.
Owensboro High School elected not to compete at the event because of heat concerns.
