Panthers run rampant: Daviess County boys and girls win City-County Cross Country Championship

Daviess County boys and girls cross country stole the show in this year’s City County Cross Country Championship with two first-place team finishes.

The Lady Panthers grabbed first on the day with an average time of 20:47, defeating the rest of the team’s by at least four minutes.

Apollo grabbed second with an average time of 24:27, while Daviess County grabbed third with an average time of 25:21.

Lucy Spaw led the way for the Lady Panthers, finishing first individually with a time of 19:46.9. Emily Rempe followed right behind grabbing second individually with a time of 20:46.4, while Kayley Payne (third), Sally Tidwell (fourth) and Ellington Crabtree (fifth) also finished in the top-five.

Ahmira Pickett was the top runner for the E-gals, grabbing eighth individually with a time of 22:05.6. Addyson Mattingly was second for Apollo and 11th individually with a time of 23:22.9, while Chloe Sandefur (15th), Olivia Hooker (17th) and Sarah Rice (26th) rounded out their team score.

Ainsley Sutter led the charge for the Lady Aces, grabbing 18th with a time of 25:09.1. Allie Martson was one place behind with a time of 25:17.2, while Katie Hagan (20th), Meredith Traylor (21st) and Ashlie Hayden (22nd) rounded out their top-five.

Addison Edge led the way for Owensboro, finishing 13th with a time of 23:37.3. Tiara Campbell Newton followed in 23rd with a time of 25:53.4, while Keeli Hanley finished 32nd with a time of 30:39.8.

Daviess County boys narrowly grabbed first over Apollo, finishing with an average time of 17:38. The Eagles followed closely behind with a time of 18:17, while Owensboro Catholic placed third with a time of 20:53.

Justin Shelton placed second individually with a time of 16:56.0 to lead the Panthers. Bryson McGary placed third individually with a time of 17:14.5, while Nolan Kurz (fourth), Caleb Tidwell (fifth) and Zach McCaslin (10th).

Apollo’s Thomas Ashby grabbed first place overall with a time of 16:06.0, while Emmitt Brock finished seventh with a time of 18:11.2. 

Josh Thomas finished eighth with a time of 18:16.2, Blake Mullins finished 14th with a time of 18:58.9 and Madden Rhoads rounded out their score by finishing 18th with a time of 19:51.6.

Austin Marsh led the Aces with a time of 19:47.3 to grab 17th overall. Nolan Murphy followed closely behind in 20th, finishing with a time of 20:06.2.

Braden Davis finished 32nd with a time of 21:14.2, Cooper Danzer finished 34th with a time of 21:33.3 and Lance Dickens finished 36th with a time of 21:40.7 to close out Owensboro Catholic’s top-five.

Adrian Askin (sixth) and Jacob Coleman (28th) competed individually for Owensboro, finishing with times of 17:48.9 and 20:49.7 respectively.

Jacob Howard led Trinity individually, finishing in ninth overall with a time of 18:16.5. Jonathan Miller (38th), Dalton Millay (44th) and Christian Miller (45th) also competed for Trinity as well.
