Offense came in bunches when Trinity and Calloway County faced off, but the Raiders were unable to stifle the Lakers offense in the first half and fell 98-85.

Trinity was able to put up 20 points in the first quarter despite hitting one shot from deep, but Calloway County had a trio of players making the Lakers offense explode for 30 in the quarter.

Freshmen Eli Finley and Jonah Butler both chipped in eight points each, while senior Zach Hudgin had six to combine for 22 of the team’s 30 going into the second quarter.

The Raiders continued to work for their shots, living in the paint and at the free-throw line. Meanwhile Finley and Hudgin continued to lead the charge for the Lakers, combining for 16 of the team’s 28 in the quarter to take a 58-37 lead into the second half.

Thanks to a balanced offensive attack and some newfound marksmanship from deep, Trinity was able to outscore Calloway County 23-17 and 25-23 in the third and fourth quarter. However, it was too little too late, as the Lakers hot start pushed them past the Raiders in the end 98-85.

Junior Landon Smith led Trinity with 17 points, while junior Gavin Howard (15), junior Landon Huff (13), senior Bailey Wright (12), junior Nathan Hernandez (11) and junior Denver Dickens all finished in double figures.

Hudgin and Finley led Calloway County with 26 and 23 points respectively, while senior Matthew Ray (15) Butler (13) and freshman Conner Lockhart (10) all finished in double figures.

Following two straight home losses, the Raiders will be looking for that elusive first win of the season on Monday, when they take on Breckinridge County at 7 p.m.
