Leading at halftime, offensive struggles in the third quarter came back to bite the Lady Raiders on Friday, as they fell to Butler County 44-35.
Neither team was able to crack double digits in the first two quarters of play, but Trinity (Whitesville) had a slight edge and went into the second half owning a 17-14 lead.
The Lady Raiders’ luck didn’t stick in the third quarter, as their offense went flat. Butler County held them to four points, while their offense came alive and helped them take a 28-21 lead into the fourth.
Trinity was finally able to crack double digits in the fourth, scoring 14 points. However, Butler County had its strongest quarter of the game (16 points) and closed the door on a 44-35 win.
Seniors Cassidy Morris and Katherine Hibbitt led the way for the Lady Raiders offensively, finishing with 13 and 11 points respectively.
Trinity falls to 7-7 with the loss, the Lady Raiders will look to bounce back as they will return to the hardwood on Saturday when they host Cloverport at 11:30 a.m.
