After a strong senior season, Eagles offensive lineman Austin Barnett is headed to the next level after signing with Lindsey Wilson College.
“It feels great,” Barnett said. “It relieves some of the stress from me and my family. I was so excited when I officially signed to go to Lindsey Wilson.”
Studying engineering mechanics, Barnett chose the school to help fuel his passions on and off the field.
“I choose this school to be able to play football and get a degree that will help me in the future,” Barnett said.
Barnett said the atmosphere amongst the program and their coaching staff’s desire to help its athletes survive in all facets of their schooling is what helped him make his decision.
“The winning mentality they have there [is something I love], Barnett said. “And the coaches also seem to really care for their players to succeed not only in football, but in their education.
Barnett was a key cog in an offensive line that 111.5 rushing yards per game, as well as a touchdown a game last season for Apollo.
The Eagles standout said he’s cherished his time at Apollo and will miss his teammates and coaches.
