Following a strong 2021 campaign, Daviess County softball opened up the new season with a 9-0 win over Butler County.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Panthers scored at least one run every inning.

Daviess County opened up scoring by taking a 1-0 lead following the second inning. They proceeded to grab two more in the third and one more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Raylee Roby was dominating in the circle, striking out 10 while only allowing two hits. Pairing this with five more runs across the fifth and sixth and the Lady Panthers walked away with a dominant 9-0 run in six innings.

Seniors Millie Roberts and Jessie Daniels led the way at the plate for Daviess County, as they both went 3-4 at the plate. Roberts finished with a pair of home runs and four RBIs, while Daniels had a home run and a pair of RBIs herself.

The Lady Panthers will look to test themselves this weekend after their first win, competing in the McCracken County Early Bird Tournament. The first matchup will be with McCracken County themselves at 8 p.m. on Friday.
