Local tennis was on fire Tuesday, as Apollo, Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic’s boys and girls teams dominated in its respective matchups.

Apollo vs. Butler County

Apollo boys and girls tennis had strong showings on Monday, defeating Butler County 8-1 in its respective matches.

Luke Austin, Ben Austin and Jake Patton led the way in singles with 8-0 wins, while Stetson Osborne (8-2) and Maddox Tucker (8-5) also grabbed singles wins.

In doubles it was the duos of Stetson Osborne and Evan Wilson (8-2), Connor O’Bryan and Harvey Panuelo (8-2) and Nee Kpaw and Taw Moo (8-3) who secured wins to lead Apollo past Butler County.

The girls tennis team swept the singles matches, with Emmie Kate Williams earning an 8-0 victory. Erin McMahon (8-4), Ella Hayden (8-4), Kyndall Hayden (8-2), Sophey Jennings (8-1) and Morgan Shook (8-6) all earned singles wins as well.

Sophey Jennings and Elise Wilson grabbed an 8-2 doubles win for Apollo, while Vidhi Patel and Lucy Waldschmidt earned an 8-5 win to round out the day.

Owensboro vs. Muhlenberg County

Owensboro boys tennis dominated Muhlenberg County 7-2 on Monday, while the Lady Devils squeaked out a 5-4 win on the day.

Dylan Mather (6-0, 6-0) led the way for Owensboro on the day with a clean sweep in singles matches, while Walker Gaddis, John Clay Ford, Jeremy Gilliham and Nicholas Plemmons all grabbed 8-6 wins in their singles matches.

Gilliham and Plemmons (9-8, 7-3) teamed up for a doubles win on the day for the boys, while Ford and Gaddis did as well (6-3, 5-7, 11-9).

Riley Hunt led the way in singles with an 8-1 win for the girls, while Chase Mather, Emma Embry and Caroline Smith all grabbed 8-2 wins.

Embry and Hunt were the only duo to grab doubles wins on the day for the Lady Devils, sitting at a score of 8-2.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Grayson County

Owensboro Catholic’s girls and boys teams showed out against Grayson County, grabbing 9-0 and 8-1 victories on the day.

Isabella Sanchez and Grace Franich grabbed 8-0 wins to lead the Lady Aces, while Payton Woosley, Ava Walker and Kat Ritchetts all got 8-1 wins and Emma Walker earned an 8-3 win to sweep the singles for the day.

The Lady Aces also swept doubles, with Woosley and Sanchez, Ava and Emma and Kihna Raymer and Neely Hornbeck all earning 8-0 wins.

Brett Conder and Cooper Danzer led the way with 8-0 singles wins, while Patrick Hauke (8-1), Houston Danzer (8-3) and Davis Brocato (8-3) also got wins on the day.

Conder and Brocato grabbed an 8-0 doubles win to lead the way for the boys as well, while the duos of Hyland and Hauke and the Danzer brothers both grabbed 8-1 doubles victories.
