Bouncing back from a tough loss to Henderson County on Tuesday, Owensboro Catholic was able to get the home win this time at a score of 12-5 over Bowling Green.

The Aces wasted no time taking control of the game, going on a monstrous two-out rally in the bottom of the first. It started with a walk by senior Alex Castlen, which turned into a two-run single during the following at-bat from freshman Brady Atwell.

An error at the plate allowed another run to cross and the bases were quickly loaded again after a walk and hit by pitch. Then freshman Parker Heistand and senior Luke Evans delivered back-to-back two-run singles to give Owensboro Catholic a 7-0 lead going into the second.

The Purples grabbed two runs in the top of the fourth to show some signs of life, but the Aces quickly canceled them out. This time it was Castlen who got in on the action, driving in two with a single to make it a 9-2 game.

Both teams traded runs back and forth for the final three innings of play, but it was too little too late for Bowling Green as they fell to Owensboro Catholic 12-5.

Junior Grant Parson got the win, allowing two runs on two hits, while walking two and striking out two in four innings pitched. Meanwhile, seniors Hayden Ward and Sam McFarland combined to allow for three runs on seven hits in three innings pitched.

Offensively, the Aces had five different players record RBIs on the day. Evans, Mundy, Castlen, Atwell and Heistand all tallied two each.

The Aces improved to 15-3 overall with the win, as they will return to action Saturday when they travel to take on Glasgow at 1 p.m.
