Owensboro Catholic opened up the 3rd Region ‘All A’ Classic with a bang, grabbing a 12-6 win over McLean County on Tuesday.
Trailing 3-2 after the first inning, the Aces scored seven runs over the course of the second and third inning to take a 9-3 lead. Owensboro Catholic got five runs in the second, while grabbing two in the bottom of the third.
McLean County got three in the top of the seventh in an attempt to forge a comeback, but the Aces had done so the inning prior thanks to an error that allowed them to clear the bases, helping them come away with a 12-6 win.
Freshman Parker Heistand and senior Alex Castlen led the way offensively with two RBIs each, while senior Braden Mundy and Everett Munsey had one each. Junior Grant Parson had a dominant relief appearance for Owensboro Catholic, allowing one hit, walking two and striking out six in two innings.
The Aces now sit at 13-2 overall and will return to action on Wednesday in the 3rd Region All A Classic.
