Trinity struggled mightily against Grayson County on Tuesday, while Owensboro Catholic came up just short against the Colonels.
Trinity (Whitesville) vs. Grayson County
The Raiders didn’t have the answers on either side of the field Tuesday, finding themselves hitless in a 17-0 loss to Grayson County.
Grayson County grabbed three runs in the top of the first and never looked back, scoring at least three runs in every inning of the game.
Trinity had no problem putting the ball in play, as they only struck out four times in the game. However, this didn’t result in hits or runs as they ultimately fell 17-0.
Falling to 2-8 overall the Raiders will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, as they travel to take on Apollo at 5:30 p.m.
Owensboro Catholic vs. Henderson County
Despite grabbing an early lead, Owensboro Catholic’s offense faltered as they fell to Henderson County 4-2 on Tuesday.
The Aces found themselves in charge early, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. It was senior Luke Evans who wasted no time putting them on the board, turning a 1-2 count into a solo home run to left.
However, senior Garrett Allinder delivered the equalizer the following inning, knotting things up at 1-1 with an RBI single to right field. Taking advantage of a single and a walk, the Colonels expanded their lead with a two-run double from senior Andrew Mills going into the fourth.
Henderson County got one more in the top of the fourth, but Owensboro Catholic quickly matched them thanks to an RBI triple from Evans to cut its deficit to 4-2 going into the fifth.
However, this would be all the offense that the Aces could muster, as the Colonels’ pitching staff closed the door on a 4-2 road win on Tuesday.
Evans was the only player to record RBIs for Owensboro Catholic with two on the night, while he and senior Braden Mundy were the only players with two hits.
Owensboro Catholic falls to 14-3 overall with the loss, as they will get right back to action after a day off with another home matchup against Bowling Green at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
