The E-gals Olivia Crawford is staying close to home as her high school career is coming to a close, signing with Kentucky Wesleyan to play softball.

Crawford is currently in her senior season with Apollo, sitting at second on the team with a .333 batting average and stealing five bases on as many attempts. She’s already eclipsing numbers from her junior year, in which she had a .303 batting average, stole four bases and had a total of five RBIs.

With her senior season having just recently started, Crawford is thrilled to be able to just focus on playing with her next steps athletically and academically planned out.

“I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can focus on my senior year of softball,” Crawford said. “I was really starting to stress on making a decision but I had one conversation with coach Mallette and coach Johnson and that was all I needed to know that this was where I wanted to be for the next four years.”

Crawford said that she wasn’t ready to leave home just yet and was thrilled with the opportunity coach Miles Mallette and Jessica Johnson presented her at KWC. There she will be going into sports management, knowing the major will create a big work field and she hopes to be an Athletic Director in the future.

While Crawford is focused on helping Apollo thrive during her senior season, when she does take her talents to KWC she will always look back and cherish the time she had with her E-gals teammates and coaches.

“I’ll miss the bond that I shared with my teammates and coaches,” Crawford said. “Coach Julian brought me on the team in sixth grade and has never given up on me and pushed me to do better daily. My school provides the love and support for all of our sports at Apollo. Being an Eagle for four years has given me some of the best friends and teammates I could ask for.”
