The Lady Raiders expanded upon an early lead Tuesday, slowly putting up crooked numbers to earn a 5-1 win over Owensboro.

Trinity got right to work in the top of the first, as senior Katherine Hibbitt smacked a two-run double to left following a single and a Lady Devils’ error. Freshman Raylee Higdon delivered an RBI groundout the next at-bat, giving the Lady Raiders a 3-0 lead heading into the second inning.

Trinity sprinkled in runs throughout the rest of the game, getting one run in the bottom of the second and one in the bottom of the fifth. It was an RBI single from senior Cassidy Morris that did the trick in the second, while Hibbitt had another double that made it a 5-0 game entering the sixth.

Owensboro was able to get a run in the top of the sixth thanks to an RBI groundout from eighth grader Reese Boswell, but that was all the Lady Devils could tally as they ultimately fell 5-1.

Freshman Kirsten Tindle had a rough day in the circle for the Lady Devils, allowing five runs—three earned—on 10 hits, while walking one and striking out nine. For the Lady Raiders it was junior Allie Barnett and Allie Graham who handled things, allowing one run on seven hits between the two.

Hibbitt led the way offensively for Trinity with a 4-4 day and three RBIs, while Morris and Higdon also chipped in an RBI each. Boswell had the lone RBI of the day for Owensboro.

Trinity improved to 8-5 overall with the win and has a quick turnaround, as they are set for a district matchup with Edmonson County at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Owensboro fell to 3-10 overall and will get right back to the diamond on Wednesday, as they will hit the road to take on John Hardin at 6:30 p.m..
