Junior Kolton Hudson had Trinity (Whitesville’s) number all day long, allowing just one hit as Butler County grabbed a 9-0 win in seven.
The Raiders had themselves an early scoring opportunity, as a two-out double from junior Gavin Howard put a runner in scoring position for senior Mason Mattingly. However, Mattingly would ground out to end the inning and then Butler County would take over.
The Bears scored two runs in the first inning, coming off an RBI single from sophomore Parker Pendley and a safety squeeze by junior Clay VIncent. Butler County kept its foot on the gas in the second as well, adding three more runs to Hudson, a cushion to work with.
The junior pitcher for the Bears took advantage of his lead, dicing up Trinity’s lineup left and right. Hudson would end up with 13 strikeouts on the day and no walks, as his offense would give him four more runs in the bottom of the sixth before claiming a 9-0 shutout win.
Freshman Carter Crisp struggled on the mound for the Raiders, allowing eight earned runs on four hits, walking six and striking out six in 5 ⅓ innings. Howard was the lone player for Trinity with a hit.
Trinity falls to 3-12 overall on the season, as they will look to get revenge when they take on Butler County again Tuesday at 6 p.m.
