The E-gals and the Lady Raiders got shutouts from its pitchers on Tuesday, while Owensboro couldn’t silence Union County’s offense in a tough loss.
Apollo vs. Webster County
It was a trio of pitchers that got it done for the E-gals on Tuesday, as they walked away with a 9-0 shutout win over Webster County.
Apollo tried to put some pressure on the Lady Trojans early, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to an RBI single from eighth grader Arianna Ramirez. After a scoreless second inning, the E-gals caught fire again in the top of the third.
Ramirez got Apollo going again in the third, delivering a two-run bomb to left to make it a 3-0 game. The E-gals offense continued to pour it on throughout the game, grabbing three runs in the bottom of the fifth and the bottom of the sixth.
This gave Apollo a whopping nine runs, while juniors Emmie Bullington, K’Asia Palmer and senior Sydney Saalwechter combined to allow just two hits, while allowing no runs en route to a 9-0 win.
Ramirez stole the show offensively by going 3-4 with four RBIs on the day, while sophomore Mallory Velotta and junior Morgan Julian also went 3-4. Freshman Macy Calhoun had two RBIs on the day, while Velotta, Saalwechter and junior Morgan Frizzell all had an RBI each.
Apollo improves to 9-8 overall after snapping its two-game losing streak, as they will look to stay strong against Jasper at 5:30 p.m. at home on Thursday.
Trinity (Whitesville) vs. Grayson County
The Lady Raiders were clicking on all cylinders on Tuesday, as they were able to earn an 8-0 shutout victory over Grayson County.
Trinity wasted no time getting on the board, using a two-rally to set the tone for the game. The scoring opened with an RBI single from freshman Raylee Higdon, while an error and a two-run double by junior Allie Barnett sent them into the second up 4-0.
This set the stage for Barnett to work with a solid lead from the circle and Barnett took advantage of it. While the Lady Raiders scored four more runs throughout the game, Barnett held the Lady Cougars scoreless, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out two in seven innings en route to the 8-0 win.
Barnett and sophomore Macie Aguilar led the way at the plate with two RBIs each, while Higdon, junior Abby Payne and junior Allie Graham all tallied one each.

The Bravettes wasted no time building a lead, going up 3-0 in the first inning thanks to RBI doubles from freshmen Leah Hunley and Peyton Jenkins and an RBI single from eighth grader Ashlynn Hargrove.
Owensboro was able to get a run back in the top of the second because of a sac fly from freshman Kirsten Tindle, but Union County responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-1 lead.
The Lady Devils did get a run in the top of the fifth, but the Bravettes scored eight runs over the last three innings of the ballgame to secure the 13-2 victory.
Tindle and senior Brooklyn Keller didn’t have their best stuff in the circle, combining to allow 14 hits, nine earned runs, two walks and only striking out two in five innings. Tindle and sophomore Paige Hughes had the lone RBIs of the game for Owensboro.
