The Lady Raiders just couldn’t muster up enough offense on Wednesday, as their comeback efforts fell short in a 5-4 loss to Breckinridge County.

Trinity (Whitesville) got on the board first thanks to an RBI double from freshman Raylee Higdon, but the Lady Tigers offense wouldn’t let the lead stick for long. An error led to Breckinridge County getting its first run of the game, but a two-out two-run double from junior Hadley Boehman put them up 3-1 going into the second inning.

The Lady Tigers grabbed one more run to build its lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the second, but then the Lady Raiders started chipping away. Senior Katherine Hibbitt smacked a home run to left to cut it to 4-2 in the third, but it was an RBI double by senior Cassidy Morris and an error on a ground ball by Hibbitt that led to a run and knotted things up at 4-4.

However, Breckinridge County reclaimed the lead with a sacrifice fly from senior Morgan Tabor in the bottom of the fourth and they never looked back. Getting 2 ⅓ scoreless innings of relief from sophomore Ashlyn White, Trinity never got going again and ultimately lost 5-4.

Junior Allie Graham had a rough go in the circle, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits, while walking one and striking out three in 5 ⅓ innings on the mound. Higdon, Morris and Hibbitt were the Lady Raiders’ leaders offensively, chipping in an RBI each.

Trinity falls to 9-7 overall on the season, as they have a quick turnaround with a road matchup against Butler County at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
