A barrage of walks and errors plagued Trinity (Whitesville) on Monday, as they ultimately fell to Evansville Christian 5-2.

Evansville Christian got right to work offensively, getting a two-out solo home run to take a 1-0 lead following the top of the first. They added two more runs in the top of the second to go up 3-0, scoring both on an error after back-to-back walks to start the inning.

After adding two more runs in the top of the fourth, Evansville Christian continued to stifle the Raiders offense. It wasn’t until the bottom of the fifth that Trinity was able to crack the scoreboard, getting a run on a passed ball to make it a 5-1 game.

The Raiders added one more in the bottom of the sixth thanks to another passed ball, sending them into the seventh trailing 5-2. Despite getting three scoreless innings of relief from junior Landon Huff, Trinity wasn’t able to complete a comeback in the bottom of the seventh and lost to Evansville Christian 5-2.

Freshman Carter Crisp struggled in his start for the Raiders, allowing five runs—two earned—six hits and five walks while striking out four. Offensively, Trinity was only able to record four hits on the day while having a total of five errors on the defensive end.

The Raiders fall to 4-15 overall on the season, as they will look to bounce back on Thursday when they host Webster County at 6 p.m.
