Daviess County boys soccer suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday, while Owensboro Catholic earned a winning record by defeating Hopkins County Central.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Hopkins County Central

The Aces got back in the win column against Hopkins County Central, grabbing a 3-2 win to earn their first win since Aug. 20 against Christian County. 

Senior Austin Martin assisted junior Brody Martin for the first goal of the day, before the two flip-flopped roles for the second one. Brody’s second assist of the game was the most crucial, finding sophomore Cameron Cecil for the game-winner. 

Owensboro Catholic rattled off 22 shots with nine of them on goal, while Hopkins County Central took six with four of them being on goal. Senior Parker Jones was able to corral two of them in net, helping secure the 3-2 victory.

The Aces now sit at 4-3-2 overall on the season, as they will look to grab their second two-game winning streak of the year in a district matchup with Daviess County at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Daviess County vs Bowling Green

The Panthers had their six-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, surrendering four goals in a shutout loss to Bowling Green on the road.

The Purples got their first goal of the game on a penalty kick, as senior Alex Salehe scored in the 9th minute. They got on the board once again nine minutes later, getting a header from junior Aison Manivong in the 18th minute on a corner kick.

Bowling Green got one more goal before going into the locker room, getting a goal off a rebound in order to take a 3-0 lead in the 35th minute. Daviess County was able to get four shots off on the game, getting two from senior Ahmed Abdullahi and one each from seniors Hayden Boswell and Dax Sandifer.

The Panthers will take a day off to recoup, as they will look to get back in the win column against Owensboro Catholic at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
