Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic bounced back from its previous losses in its latest games, tying North Hardin and Todd County Central 1-1.

Owensboro vs. North Hardin

Following a tough first district loss to Apollo on Thursday, Owensboro hit the road again and bounced back by holding North Hardin to a 1-1 tie.

North Hardin were the ones to get on the board first, taking advantage of some chaos in the box with a corner ball. Once the ball was sent in, it was cleared but deflected off a Trojans player to give them a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

It wasn’t until the 50th minute that Owensboro was able to match them, as junior Sang Thang found junior Peter Saang who hit a left footer to the side net and knotted the game up at 1-1. The two teams rattled off an array of shots throughout the game—with North Hardin narrowly outshooting the Red Devils 15-11—but neither was able to find the back of the net and it ended in a tie.

Owensboro moves to 1-1-1 overall to start the season, as they will return for their first home game of the year on Thursday against Daviess County at 7 p.m.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Todd County Central

The Aces were able to bounce back from a loss to Daviess County in their first district game of the season, tying with Todd County Central at 1-1.

Todd County Central struck first on Saturday, as a cross skipped the past feet of multiple Aces that led to a shot from about six yards out to take a 1-0 lead. Owensboro Catholic, unable to get anything going, went into halftime trailing due to the lone goal.

The Aces kept firing though, finishing with 15 total shots and six on goal. Their lone goal that found the back of the net came through on a long throw-in, before junior Kaden Goetz was able to corral it and score to knot things up at 1-1 early in the second half.

Owensboro Catholic’s defense was able to keep Todd County Central at bay for the rest of the game, getting three saves from senior Parker Jones en route to the 1-1 tie. Now sitting at 1-1-1 to start the 2022 campaign, they will take some time off to practice and prepare to take on Apollo on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
