Tuesday night was packed with district games, as Owensboro Catholic and Daviess County grabbed shutout victories over Apollo and Owensboro respectively.
Apollo vs. Owensboro Catholic
The Lady Aces put on an offensive clinic on Tuesday, grabbing a commanding 9-1 win over Apollo to open up the week.
Junior Ginny Young led the way for Owensboro Catholic with a hat-trick, while junior Mallary Bailey had a pair herself. Senior Maddie Hadyen, junior Annie Helwig, senior Rachel Traylor and junior Elizabeth Hayden also had a goal each on the day.
Maddie and Elizabeth Hayden both had three assists each on the night, while Young and senior Katie Riney had one each to help the Lady Aces improve to 6-2-1 overall and 4-0 in district play. On the other hand the E-gals fell to 2-6-1 overall and 0-4 in district play on the season with the loss, as they struggled to get anything going offensively.
Apollo got four shots on the day with three of them target, as junior Jolie Foster the lone goal scorer off of an assist from junior Emma Edens. The E-gals will get back to action with another district matchup against Owensboro on Thursday at 6 p.m., while Owensboro Catholic will take a day off before hitting the road to take on Castle at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Daviess County vs. Owensboro
The Lady Panthers were clicking on all cylinders on Tuesday, defeating Owensboro 5-0 for the second time this season to remain in second in district play.
Sophomores Lily Hoagland and Kate McCain led the way offensively for Daviess County, grabbing two goals each. Freshman Molly Floyd had the other goal for the Lady Panthers, while junior Emily Baughn and freshman Kaelin Labhart had a save each to keep the Lady Devils off the board.
Daviess County improves to 7-3 and 3-1 in district play on the season, as they will now take some time off before a doubleheader in the DC Electric Lady Marshals Classic on Saturday. Owensboro falls to 2-4 and 1-3 in district play with the loss, now taking a day off before a home district matchup with Owensboro on Thursday.
