In a game in which goals didn’t come by often, Owensboro grabbed first district win of the season by defeating the Aces 1-0.
Junior Peter Saang was the lone goal scorer for the Red Devils, doing so after receiving a pass from junior Sang Thang. Senior Parker Jones faced a barrage of shots from Owensboro on the night, saving six of them.
Owensboro Catholic on the other hand wasn’t able to get much offense going, as junior Alex Carpenter recorded three saves to help lead the Red Devils to the 1-0 shutout. Owensboro improves to 3-2 overall and 1-3 in district play with the win, as they now have a day off before taking on Central Hardin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Aces fall to 3-2-2 overall and 1-2 in district play with the loss, as they will take a day off before battling with Meade County on Saturday.
