With nearly every athlete putting in PR’s on Saturday, the St. Mary of the Woods middle school boys placed second in the Madisonville Classic Cross Country Meet while the elementary and high school also competed.
St. Mary of the Woods grabbed second out of a field of nine schools in the 2.5K race, with Grant Howard placing second as an individual with a time of 8:39. Thomas Payne followed by placing 10th with a time of 9:35, while Tate Howard placed 22nd with a time of 10:39 and Will Roby placed 27th with a time of 10:57.
Seventh grader Jacob Aud placed 41st with a time of 12:07, Ian White placed 43rd with a time of 12:10 and sixth grader Gavin Starks placed 47th with a time of 12:19 to round out the team’s day.
The elementary team also competed in a 2.5K race, with third grader Samuel Payne placing 12th with a time of 10:58 and Hugh Williams placing 16th with a time of 12:01 as the lone top-20 finishers. Luke Howard placed 28th with a time of 14:43, while Sophia Miller placed 22nd in the girls race with a time of 14:19.
Running for the high school, Jacob Howard placed 26th with a 5K time of 21:17, Jonathan Miller placed 44th with a time of 23:42 and Dalton Millay placed 53rd with a time of 25:43.
