The Eagles and Red Devils soccer teams couldn’t find the back of the net in their respective games on Saturday, while Daviess County went 1-0-1 against Butler and Elizabethtown.
Apollo vs. Oldham County, Cooper
The Eagles losing streak was extended to four games on Saturday, as they were shutout by Oldham County 2-0 and Cooper 4-0.
Senior keeper Steven Teran did his best to keep both teams out of the net, recording 12 saves against the Colonels and 11 against the Jaguars. Apollo falls to 4-9 overall, as they will get back to the drawing board before returning to action against Warren East on Tuesday.
Daviess County vs Butler, Elizabethtown
The Panthers were able to avoid defeat on Saturday, tying with Butler in game one at 1-1 and defeating Elizabethtown at 5-2 in their second game of the Elliott Wells Classic.
Junior Benit Mulume put the Bears on the board in the 50th minute, while sophomore Carter Payne evened the game in the 72nd minute en route to the 1-1 tie. Elizabethtown got a goal in the 14th and 23rd minute in Daviess County’s second game, but the Panthers were clicking on all cylinders.
Senior Hayden Boswell had a hat trick on the day, while senior Ahmed Abdullahi and junior Sam Glover had a goal each en route to the 5-2 win to close out the Elliott Wells Classic.
Owensboro vs. McCracken County
The Red Devils couldn’t muster up enough offense against McCracken County on Saturday, falling in their second straight road game 5-0.
Senior Max Brotherson and junior Johnny Stevens grabbed a goal each in the first half to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead going into halftime, while senior Aaron Perrault grabbed one and Steven grabbed two more in the second half for a hat trick to complete the 5-0 win.
Owensboro now sits at 5-5-2 overall, taking the next few days off before closing out regular season district play against Owensboro Catholic at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
