Boys soccer recap (Sept. 17): DCHS, AHS, OCHS

Owensboro Catholic and Apollo boys soccer closed out the week with wins on Saturday, while Daviess County lost its second straight in the Tiger Invitational.

Daviess County vs. St. Patrick

The Panthers lost their second straight in the Tiger Invitational on Saturday, falling to St. Patrick 3-1 on the road.

St. Patrick was able to score in the 13th and 29th minute to take an early 2-0 lead, until sophomore Cameron Bell scored in the 43rd minute off of a throw-in to cut it to 2-1. But St. Patrick was able to grab a goal less than 10 minutes later, helping them secure the 3-1 win.

Daviess County falls to 11-3-1 overall with back-to-back losses for the first time this season, now taking a few days off before hitting the road to battle Henderson County at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Apollo vs. Hopkinsville

The Eagles bounced back following a tough loss to Daviess County on Saturday, closing out the week with a 4-2 home win over Hopkinsville.

Senior Hunter Dickerson and sophomore Omid Hanafi both had a pair of goals on the day, while senior Hsa Than, senior Dah Hai, junior Ra Son and senior Jason Stillwell all had an assist each in the match. Senior keeper Steven Teran also made seven saves, while junior Kaden Phillips grabbed a save as well.

Apollo improves to 6-10 overall with the win, now taking a few days off before hosting Hopkins County Central at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Todd County Central

Owensboro Catholic secured its spot in the All-A Classic State Tournament on Saturday, defeating Todd County Central 2-0 at home.

Senior Austin Martin and junior Brody Martin had the lone goals in the All-A 3rd/4th Region qualifying win, while Austin had an assist and senior Thomas Eyre had the other. Senior keeper Parker Jones had a pair of saves in the win, helping the Aces move to 7-4-3 overall going into a home game with Ohio County at 7 p.m. on Monday.
