Girls soccer recap (Sept. 15): OHS, OCHS

Owensboro girls soccer wasn’t able to muster up enough offense in a loss to the Lady Waves on Thursday, while Owensboro Catholic grabbed its second straight shutout victory.

Owensboro vs Meade County

The Lady Devils dropped their third straight game on Thursday, as they couldn’t stifle Meade County’s offense in a 7-1 road loss.

Junior Sydney Lovett had the lone goal for Owensboro, while senior keeper Chandler Worth did her best to try and keep the Lady Waves out of net with a whopping 26 saves. The Lady Devils fall to 5-8 overall with the loss, taking a day off before they hit the road to take on South Warren at 10 a.m.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Madisonville-North Hopkins

The Lady Aces moved their goal total this week to a dozen on Thursday, defeating Madisonville-North Hopkins with a second straight 6-0 win.

Junior Ginny Young led the way with a hat trick, while senior Maddie Hayden was close behind with a pair of goals. Senior Katie Riney also had a goal in the win, while also dishing out two assists.  

Sophomore Sophie Hayden, junior Mallary Bailey, junior Jahaira Ward and junior Annie Helwig all had an assist each as well, while junior keeper Abby Payne recorded her seventh shutout of the season. Owensboro Catholic moves to 9-3-1 overall with the win, now taking a day off before competing in the All-A Classic on Saturday.
