McGuire career high not enough as Panthers fall to Dragons

The Panthers (2-7, 0-1 G-MAC) opened G-MAC play on Friday afternoon, falling to Tiffin (5-5, 1-0 G-MAC) 3-1 in close fashion. 

After dropping the opening two sets 25-8 and 25-15, the Panthers saw themselves down 23-21 in set three. Fueled by three kills by Braxton Shelton, KWC won five of the next six points to take the set 26-24. Wesleyan saw their 14-12 lead dwindle in the fourth set thanks to a 6-0 run by Tiffin, and the Dragons took the last set by a score of 25-18. 

Senior Hallie McGuire set a new career high with 18 kills on a .250 attack percentage. Braxton Shelton tallied a season high seven kills, while Ava Rebarchik added six. Julia Kupper also set a new career high, handing out 33 assists in the four set match. Danielle Nelson tallied 15 digs while Mariah Jones continued her strong defensive season with three blocks. 

The Panthers will be right back at it tomorrow when they travel to Ashland to take on the Eagles. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
