Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds qualified for state for the second straight year on Tuesday, while the team and Apollo’s Mary Ann Lyons and Owensboro Catholic’s Addie-Belle Rutman didn’t qualify.

Reynolds led the way for the Lady Panthers with an 82 (+10), while. AnnaLee Yager was second with a 95 (+23) on the day. Baylie Billingsley shot a 101 (+29) to round out the individual players, as Leah Coppick and Alexa Salamah did not compete on Tuesday.

Reynolds said that she wasn’t necessarily pleased with her day as whole, but knows what she needs to work on going into state.

“I felt okay [about today],” Reynolds said. “I didn’t play very good, but I had fun. I think I putted pretty good. My approach shots were not very good considering the wind.”

Lyons and Rutman fell just shy of qualifying for the state finals, shooting an 86 (+14) to tie for 20th and a 106 (+34) to finish 65th respectively Meanwhile, Reynolds will get right back to action next week, competing in state starting Thursday, Oct. 6, in Bowling Green.

“It feels really good [to qualify again],” Reynolds said. “I would like to hopefully place in the top-10 this year.”
