Kentucky Wesleyan College Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Mark Shook has been selected to serve on the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee starting in 2022-23.
Shook’s appointment was effective on September 1, 2022, and will continue through August 31, 2026. He will serve as the Chair for the Midwest Region and is responsible for the policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. Committee members also chair the Regional Advisory Committees (RAC), oversee selections to national championships, and serve as the NCAA representatives during preliminary-round competition and championship finals.
“I’m honored to be selected and look forward to representing the Midwest region on this important committee,” said Shook. “Baseball has been an important part of my life as a player and coach, and I’ve had my eye on NCAA committee work in this sport since I was at the Division I level. We’ve got a great committee and a great championship structure, and I look forward to doing my part ot promote the sport and give all DII baseball student-athletes the best experience possible.”
Shook will assist the committee chair, Miles Gallagher, along with the other committee members, at the competition at the championship site, which features the eight regional winners. The championship tournament is set for June 3-10 in Cary, N.C., hosted by Mount Olive College and the Town of Cary at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. There are currently 247 Division II schools sponsoring baseball.
