The Lady Aces secured their spot in the 3rd Region Semifinals on Tuesday, using a balanced attack to sweep Muhlenberg County 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-12) in the first round.
Owensboro Catholic got 29 kills from eight different players on the night, with junior Blair Riney’s seven and sophomore Olivia Castlen’s six leading the way. Junior Kennedy Murphy orchestrated the offense with 22 assists, while junior Karson Tipmore was also big offensively with seven aces.
It was a team effort defensively as well, with 10 different Lady Aces recording a dig in the contest. Senior Emily Christian led the way in that category with nine, while Tipmore was close behind with six.
Owensboro Catholic takes one step closer toward competing for a 3rd Region Championship with the win, now facing a quick turnaround in which they battle the winner of Meade/Edmonson County at 8:30 p.m. EST. on Wednesday.
