The Red Devils were clicking on all cylinders on Friday night, as their fiery offensive performance led them to a 55-0 win on the road over Grayson County in their regular season district finale.

Senior Xander Early put Owensboro on the board first, taking a one-yard carry into the endzone to take a 7-0 lead with 4:56 left to go in the first quarter after the PAT was made. After a quick stop defensively by the Red Devils, senior running back Deion Winstead scored on a eight-yard carry to make it 14-0 with 2:30 left in the first quarter.

Senior Kanye Johnson was able to force a fumble on the ensuing drive, but Owensboro couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity as senior quarterback Kasey Boone threw an interception. This didn’t deter the Red Devils offense though, adding onto its lead with a 62-yard punt return from freshman Evan Hampton to make it 21-0 shortly into the second quarter.

Special teams struck again minutes later, as junior Javion Robinson took a punt 65 yards to taked a 28-0 lead with 9:06 to go in the first half. Following a turnover on downs by the Cougars senior Kenyatta Carbon took one 23 yards to the crib, with Winstead later using a five-yard carry to make it a 42-0 game with five seconds left in the first half after the missed PAT.

With the running clock in full effect Owensboro was able to get two more touchdowns in the second half, getting a 41-yard run from Carbon in the third and a three-yard keeper from sophomore Trevor DeLacey to start the fourth. This would be all the Red Devils would need, as they secured the 55-0 win to extend their winning streak to five games.

Boone threw for 105 passing yards to lead the offense, while Carbon had 80 yards and two touchdowns on four carries out of the backfield. The Red Devils defense was clicking on all cylinders as well, totaling just 30 yards in the game.

Owensboro now sits at 7-2 overall and 5-0 in district play, securing them a home playoff game with one contest left in the regular season. The Red Devils will hit the road for that one, as they are set for a tough road test against Henderson County at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.
