Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic closed the regular season out with wins on Friday, while the E-gals also grabbed a pair of wins on Saturday to close out the regular season.
Owensboro vs Webster County
The Lady Devils closed out the regular season strong on Friday, defeating Webster County 2-0 (25-9, 25-4) in a three-set match.
Senior Brooklyn Williams (6), junior Chase Mather (6) and senior Mia Covington (5) led the offense by combining for 17 of the team’s 21 kills, while sophomore Ava Fincher dished out a team-leading 11 assists.
Junior Hannah Ashley also chipped in five aces to help offensively, while senior Kennedy Thompson and Fincher led the defense with seven and five digs respectively.
Owensboro sits at 13-17 overall to close out the regular season, now looking ahead to their first round district tournament matchup with Daviess County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Owensboro Catholic vs Muhlenberg County
The Lady Aces extended their winning streak to three games to close out the regular season, sweeping Muhlenberg County 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-15).
Junior Blair Riney led the way offensively with 10 kills, while junior Isabelle Reisz had 10 aces and junior Kennedy Murphy earned 25 assists. Senior Emily Christian led the defense with eight digs, with junior Karson Tipmore right behind at five.
Owensboro Catholic sits at 15-9 heading into the postseason, as they get back to action in the first round of the 9th District Tournament against Apollo at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Apollo vs. Hancock County
The E-gals closed out the regular season by winning five of their last seven home games, including a 3-1 win (21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-18) over Breckinridge County and a 3-0 sweep (25-11, 25-17, 25-12) of Hancock County on Saturday.
Sophomore Abbie Butterworth led the offense on the day with 12 kills and seven aces, while sophomore Ava Fazio and junior Jennifer Lee added 11 and 10 kills respectively. Junior Ahalia Ramirez orchestrated the offense for Apollo, recording a whopping 39 assists.
Lee and Fazio also had nine and eight blocks to help defensively, while junior Ella Alvey (17), junior Kaley Dickinson (15) and junior Kelsey Dickinson (11) all finished in double figures in digs.
The E-gals finish 21-14 overall going into the postseason, as they will return to action on Monday in the 9th District Tournament when they take on Owensboro Catholic in the first round at 7:30 p.m.
