For the first time since 1994, the Kentucky Wesleyan Men’s Soccer team has an All-Region team member. Calum Newson star sophomore forward from London, England, has been named First Team All-Region by the D2CCA. He is one of four G-MAC athletes to be named to the first team.

The last Kentucky Wesleyan men’s soccer player to make an All-Region team was Cary Harris in 1994, who was named to the NSCAA All-Region team.

Newson had a stellar year, finishing the season with 35 total points on 14 goals and seven assists. During the regular season, his 14 total goals were tops in the conference and his 35 points and seven assists each were second. Nationally, Newson finished seventh in total points, was 10th in both goals/game (0.82) and total goals, and finished in the top-25 in total assists.

Calum re-wrote the Kentucky Wesleyan record book this season, as many of his season total have put him in the top ten all-time. He now ranks sixth in points, seventh in goals, and ninth in assists. In a game against Brescia earlier this year, he set the school record for points in a game (10), and tied the record for both goals (3) and assists (4). In addition to the individual accolades, Newson led the Panthers to an 8-7-3 (5-6-3 G-MAC) record, their most wins since 1991.
