Daviess County’s swim teams kept its string of strong city-county, sitting atop the boys and girls divisions to three-peat as City-County Champions by nearly 200 points.
The Panthers with a 181 in the boys division, with Owensboro Catholic serving as the runner-up at 126 while Apollo grabbed third (71) and Owensboro took fourth (54). Trevor Church led the way on the boys side, breaking city-county records in the 50 meter (21.38) and 100 meter freestyle (47.60).
Daviess County also took the 200 yard medley relay (1:51.15), the 400 yard free relay (3:46.38), as well as the 200 yard free relay to get the job done. Meanwhile, the Panthers also got first place finishes individually from Gabriel Neves (200 yard IM, 2:26.97) and Kannon Nugent (one meter diving, 144.70).
The Lady Panthers won by 100 points in the girls division, scoring a 196 to Apollo’s 96, while Owensboro finished third (91) and Owensboro Catholic (74). Daviess County swept the relays as well, posting a 1:58.72 in the 200 yard medley, a 1:54.43 in the 200 yard freestyle relay and a 4:01.61 in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Daviess County also got a pair of first place finishes individually from Nya Hammons (200 yard free at 2:16.62, 100 yard back at 1:06.00) a pair from Ella Johnson including a new city-county record in the 100 yard freestyle from Ella Johnson (100 yard free at 53.64, 200 yard IM at 2:13.60), as well as one from Ellie Girten (50 yard free, 27.06) Kayedon Mattingly (500 yard free, 5:55.23) and Ryleigh Bevil (100 yard breaststroke, 1:14.82).
