Owensboro Catholic put together a complete game against Corbin to remain undefeated on Monday, while the Lady Devils put on a clinic in its win over Grayson County.
Owensboro Catholic vs. Corbin
The Lady Aces opened up the Queen of the Commonwealth with a bang, using its three-point shooting to gain momentum in the second half and hand Corbin its first loss of the season at 66-62.
While Owensboro Catholic had a decent first half offensively, four threes from junior Darcie Anderson along with three threes and 13-first half points from junior Kallie Housley led to a 36-32 lead for the Lady Redhounds going into the locker room. The Lady Aces came out of halftime red hot though, drilling four threes as a team and limiting Housley and Anderson to a combined five points in order to take a 50–48 lead going into the fourth.
Owensboro Catholic stayed strong defensively in the final quarter of play, while junior Hailee Johnson tallied eight points to lead the way to a 66-62 victory. The upperclassmen led the Lady Aces with 18 points on the night, while sophomore Karmin Riley (15) and senior Maddie Hayden (11) both followed in double figures.
Owensboro Catholic stays undefeated at 9-0 with the win, as they are now set to face off with another undefeated team in Bullitt East at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Owensboro vs. Grayson County
The Lady Devils grabbed their second straight win on Monday, dominating Grayson County in a 66-30 rout at home.
Owensboro held the Lady Cougars to single digits in the first half, while senior CJ Paige gave the Lady Devils 12 of her 16 on the night to take a 37-7 lead into the locker room. Grayson County was able to pick things up offensively in the second half, but it was too little too late as Owensboro secured the 66-30 win.
Paige led the Lady Devils with her 16 points, while senior Melia Moorman (12) and senior Lindsey Gibson (11) all finished in double figures. Owensboro improved to 7-1 overall with the win, now taking a day off before taking on Scott at the Sportscenter at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
