The Lady Devils and E-gals couldn’t muster up enough offense in their respective matchups on Friday, falling to Greenwood and South Warren.

Owensboro vs Greenwood

The Lady Devils couldn’t slow down Greenwood’s offense on Friday, as a slow third quarter came back to bite them in a 72-65 loss to close the Lady Invitational of the South.

Trailing 19-13 following the first quarter, Owensboro got contributions from all over and sank 10-12 from the charity stripe to knot things up at 35 going into halftime. The Lady Devils weren’t able to have the same success at the line in the third though, shooting two and missing both while the Lady Gators scored in bunches to take a 54-45 lead into the fourth.

Owensboro was able to bounce back offensively in the fourth with 15 of its 20 points coming from sophomore Keeley Harris (eight) and senior Melia Moorman (seven), but were unable to stifle Greenwood and ultimately fell at a score of 72-65.

Harris led the way with 19 points, while Moorman added 15, while senior Chandler Worth added 10. The Lady Devils fall to 10-4 following the loss, now turning their attention to a district matchup with Owensboro Catholic at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6.

Apollo vs South Warren

Offensive struggles ailed the E-gals on Friday, as they couldn’t muster up enough production in a 57-41 loss to South Warren.

Apollo got off to a slow start, as they were only able to get a pair of baskets from freshman Kennedy Lane and went into the second trailing 12-4. The E-gals were able to bounce back and grab 15 in the second, but the Lady Spartans matched them in order to take a 27-19 lead into the locker room.

Apollo’s luck didn’t change in the second half either, as they were held to 22 points and lost to South Warren 57-41 with Gracie Hodges (20 points) leading the way. Meanwhile, Lane was the only E-gal to score more than six, leading the way with 18 points.

Apollo falls to 4-10 with the loss, as they now have a few days to prepare for a road matchup with Henderson County at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
