Daviess County earned a double-digit rebounding advantage and big second halves from junior Gage Phelps and senior Evan Hillard to propel themselves to a win on Friday, topping Bullitt Central 68-56.
Holding the Cougars to nine points in the first quarter and 10 in the second, the Panthers were able to take a 27-19 lead into halftime. In the second half Phelps and Hillard took over the game, grabbing 19 and 13 points respectively en route to the 68-56 win.
Phelps led all scorers with 26 points on the night to go along with six rebounds, while Hillard added 18 points and eight rebounds on the night. Senior Denver Dickens had two points in the contest, but helped Daviess County grab a 33-20 rebounding advantage by snagging nine himself.
The Panthers moved to 4-8 following the win, now turning their attention to a home matchup with Ohio County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6.
