Apollo and Daviess County couldn’t muster up enough offense on Friday night, falling in their respective matchups with Ohio County and Henderson County.
Daviess County vs. Ohio County
The Panthers struggled to find some offensive consistency at home Friday night, as Ohio County grabbed a dominant 65-37 road win.
Senior Denver Dickens was the only player to score for Daviess County in the first quarter, grabbing three points while Ohio County took a 16-3 lead into the second quarter. The Panthers were able to bounce back in the second to find themselves down 28-17 going into halftime, but they couldn’t stifle the Eagles in the second half and were outscored 37-20 en route to the home loss.
Nobody finished in double figures for Daviess County, as junior Gage Phelps had eight, while junior Houston Oberst and sophomore Aydan Ayer finished with six each. The Panthers fall to 4-9 with the loss, as they will look to bounce back in their next home game against Breckinridge County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Apollo vs. Henderson County
Despite outsourcing the Colonels in the second half on Friday, Apollo couldn’t overcome its early woes in a 55-41 road loss.
The Eagles got off to a rough start, being held to single digits in the first and leaving the quarter trailing 13-6. Henderson County kept its foot on the gas in the second as well, rattling off 22 points to take a 35-18 lead at halftime.
Apollo was able to outscore the Colonels in the third and fourth quarter, but it was too little too late as they ultimately fell 55-41. Freshman Kobe Kelly and senior Zjhan Tutt led the way for the Eagles once again, finishing with 17 and 11 respectively.
Apollo sits at 1-11 overall following the loss and will look to bounce back on Saturday, as they will take on Garrard County on the road again at 3:30 p.m.
