Despite holding Hancock County to single digits in the fourth, the Lady Aces couldn’t overcome a scorching hot start by the Lady Hornets in a 56-51 loss in the 3rd Region All-A Classic.
Owensboro Catholic cracked double figures in the first, but Hancock County drilled four threes en route to a 25-11 lead to close the quarter. The Lady Aces replicated their offensive performance in the second, but Ella House (seven points) scored half of Hancock County’s 14 and remained behind at 37-25 going into halftime.
Owensboro Catholic was able to narrowly outscore the Lady Hornets in the third, but they still found themselves trailing 49-38. The Lady Aces held Hancock County to seven in the fourth, but Owensboro Catholic couldn’t muster up enough offense and ultimately fell 56-51.
Hailee Johnson led the way with 13 for the Lady Aces and Lauren Keelin and Aubrey Randolph had 10 each. Owensboro Catholic falls to 11-3 overall with the loss, as they’ll look to bounce back in a road district matchup with Owensboro at 7 p.m. on Friday.
