Seeing their first action since the Midwest Classic in the middle of December, the Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team, produced an uplifting performance at the Hawk Classic. The Panthers saw three individual champions as well as taking the team title. Gabe Adams, Dalen Kimble, and Drayden McKerrow each won their respective weight classes.
In addition to the three champions, the Panthers also saw Cameron Baker, Cade Johnson, and Kam’Ron Shannon-Likely take runner-up honors. The five-team event saw Wesleyan edge host Huntingdon 104.5-102.5.
Gabe Adams won both his matches in becoming the 141-pound weight class champ. At 149 pounds, Dalen Kimble recorded a major decision and a pin to get to the championship match. Kimble then defeated Drevon Wallace of Allen University 5-4 to take the title. McKerrow earned a bye in his opening round match at 197 pounds, then picked-up a pair of wins, including a 10-4 decision in the championship match.
Johnson put together an impressive day as well, finishing the tournament 3-1 at 157 pounds with three pins. Baker notched a pin and decision to get to the championship match at 184 pounds, but Allen’s Michael Jackson pinned Baker in the final match. Shannon-Likely finished 2-1 at 174 pounds to place second.
The Panthers will travel to Springfield, Missouri on Saturday for a pair of duals against Drury and Quincy.
