Volleyball recap (Sept. 30): Quad State Tournament

Apollo, Owensboro, and Owensboro Catholic all competed in the Quad State Tournament that consisted of teams from across four different states. 

AHS 

The E-gals won three games and lost two in the tournament. They beat Community Christian (Paducah) 2-0 (25-22, 25-14), Todd County Central 2-0 (25-19, 25-15) and Graves County 2-0 (25-21, 25-17). They lost to Great Crossing 2-0 (25-17, 25-22) and Owensboro Catholic 2-0 (25-18, 27-26). Individual stats are currently unavailable. 

OHS 

The Lady Red Devils placed second and won four games and lost one in the tournament. They lost to Warren East 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 10-15). They beat Calloway County 2-0 (25-14, 25-21), Community Christian (Paducah) 2-0 (25-19, 25-21), Bullitt Central 2-1 (25-14, 20-25, 15-6) and John Hardin 2-0 (25-19, 25-8) in the silver championship match. 

Across all matches of the tournament, Addie travis led the team in scoring with 51 kills and on defense with 19 blocks and 29 digs. Chase Mather led the team in digs with 30 as well as 31 kills, two blocks and three aces. Ava Fincher set up 71 assists across all matches as well as 18 kills, four blocks, two aces and 25 digs.

OCHS 

The Lady Aces placed third and won against Madisonville-North Hopkinsville 2-0 (25-10, 25-7), Bullitt Central 2-0 (25-10, 25-19), Apollo 2-0 (25-18, 27-26), McCracken 2-0 (27-26, 25-22) and Warren East 2-1 (25-21, 19-25, 15-9). 

Kennedy Murphy led the team in assists with 78. Olivia Castlen led the team in scoring across all matches with 35 total kills. Karsen Tipmore led in digs with 44 overall.
