The first game of the season for Owensboro didn’t end in their favor as they narrowly lost to Waggener. Trinity also picked up a loss while Daviess County secured a comfortable victory against South Warren.
DCHS 74, South Warren 57
Daviess County had no trouble taking care of South Waren 74-57. DCHS held a firm grip on the game from start to finish as they ended the first quarter with a 15-9 lead.
Leading in scoring for the Panthers was Gage Phelps with a 24-point performance. DeAaron Watkins followed with 19 points along with Ayden Ayer who finished with 15 points. Watkins also finished with a high FT% after shooting 4 of 5 from the line.
Waggener 71, OHS 69
Owensboro lost by a single bucket in their season opener against Waggener. OHS held the advantage in the first half and led at the end of both the first and second quarters. The game went down to the last minutes, but Owensboro fell just barely short and lost 71-69.
Leading the scoring for the Red Devils was Dayshawn Sanders with an impressive 28-point performance. Keaton Hughes followed with 11 points.
Logan County 87, THS 50
Trinity suffered a tough 87-50 defeat at the hands of Logan County.
Leading the scoring for the Raiders was Hayden Aull with 18 points. Following behind were Connor Hatfield with 13 points and Nolan Huff with 10 points.
