Owensboro and Trinity both found success on the day as Owensboro took down Ohio County and Trinity beat Union County for their first win of the season.
OHS 9, Ohio Co. 4
Owensboro defeated Ohio on the road 9-4.
The first inning went scoreless before OHS took a big 4 run lead in the second inning. The third inning went scoreless as well, and then Ohio put 4 runs on the board in the fourth inning to tie the game. Owensboro quickly took back the lead in the next inning as they scored 3 runs. They closed out the game in the final two innings with 2 runs to win 9-4.
Cayden Ray led at the plate with 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Brady Benjamin had 2 hits, one of them being a double, and scored 2 runs. On the mound was Trevor DeLacey with 7 strikeouts and Will Rickard with 3 strikeouts.
THS 10, Union Co. 8
Trinity fought it out with Union County in a game that saw them win 10-8.
After the first inning was scoreless, Union took the lead in the second inning with 3 runs. After the third inning ws scoreless as well, Trinity had a big fourth inning that saw them score 6 runs to take the lead from Union. Both teams went back and forth with each other in the fifth inning as Trinity added 3 more runs to their tally while Union scored 2. The last inning saw Union try for the lead in one last push scoring 3 runs, but Trinity scored one more run for insurance as they closed out the game 10-8.
Grant Howard recorded 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs off of 3 hits. Hayden Aull, Steven James, Brady McBrayer, Connor Hatfield, Kayin Howard and Cale Boarman all had 1 RBI each. Hatfield and Kayin Howard both hit doubles during the game as well. On the mound, Aull had 4 strikeouts while McBrayer had 1.
