Owensboro Catholic took down Apollo in the first district game of the year while Owensboro won their season opener by a big margin. Daviess County had a big win and Trinity picked up a win as well. Owensboro beat Grayson County 21-6 in their season opener. Individual stats for OHS are currently unavailable.
OCHS 4, AHS 1
Owensboro Catholic and Apollo faced off in district play and Catholic came out on top 4-1.
After the first inning went scoreless, OCHS scored all 4 of their runs in the second inning to take a big lead. It wasn’t until the sixth inning when AHS would score their run, but they couldn’t close the gap further and OCHS took the win 4-1.
Ruth Jones hit a triple and had 3 RBIs for OCHS. On the mound for OC was Hannah Robbins who recorded 8 strikeouts during the game. For Apollo, Arianna Ramirez hit a double and scored the lone run, and Macy Calhoun had an RBI.
DCHS 18, Butler Co. 7
Daviess County had a big 18-7 win at home over Butler County.
DC took an early lead after scoring 4 runs to Butler’s 1 in the first inning. Bitler tied the score up in the second inning with 3 runs, but DCHS regained a comfortable lead after a big 5-run third inning. They extended their lead by 1 in the fourth, and both teams scored 1 run in the fifth. Daviess County put the nail in the coffin in the sixth inning by closing out the game with 7 runs for a final score of 18-7. Addie Newman hit 2 home runs for DC along with having 7 RBIs. Makayla Rowan hit a double and had 2 RBIs as well. Molly Hancock scored 3 runs and had an RBI, and Danielle Beckwith had an RBI along with 2 runs as well.
On the mound was Kamryn Timmons with 8 strikeouts on the day.
THS 3, Owensboro Knights 1
Trinity hosted the Owensboro Knights at home where they won 3-1.
THS grabbed the early lead after scoring 2 of their runs in the first inning. The Knight brought the gap to 1 with a single run in the second inning. The next three innings went scoreless before Trinity scored their final run in the sixth inning. Hope Boarman had an RBI, and runs were scored by Sarah Payne, Georgia Howard and Kendall Howard.
On the mound for THS was Sophie Hatfield who recorded 13 strikeouts white only allowing 3 hits.
