Daviess County sits firmly at the top of the district after they defeated Apollo to move to 4-0. Meanwhile, Owensboro and Trinity both had big wins in their respective games.
DCHS 4, AHS 2
Apollo nearly made a run to pull the game back in the final inning, but Daviess County came out on top in a 4-2 victory.
DCHS opened the scoring in the first inning with a single run. They took their lead to 2-0 in the second inning with another run. The two teams then held each other scoreless for the next two innings before The Lady Panthers added another run to their tally in the fifth. After DC scored another run in the sixth, Apollo looked dangerous in the seventh inning as they scored 2 runs to try and claw back. OCHS stayed alert however, and they shut down AHS to secure a 4-2 win.
Kamryn Timmons had a big game on the mound as she had 14 strikeouts while allowing 4 hits across 7 innings. Sadie Morris had 1 RBI and scored 2 runs, and Shelby Bennett, Annie Newman and Danielle Beckwith all had 1 RBI. Makayla Rowan hit a double and scored 1 run.
On the mound for the E-gals was Hannah Holder with 2 strikeouts across 6 innings. Macy Calhoun and Mallory Velotta both hit doubles, and Liza Page scored 1 run.
OHS 10, Ohio Co. 3
Owensboro took to the road and took on Ohio County where they had no trouble winning 10-3.
The Lady Red Devils got off to a hot start at the plate as they scored 3 runs in the first inning and followed it up with 5 runs in the second. After amassing an 8-0 lead early on, OHS held Ohio scoreless for the third inning. Ohio got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with 1 run, and they cut into Owensboro’s lead in the fifth with 2 more runs. OHS put the game to bed in the sixth inning with 2 more runs. A scoreless seventh inning saw the game finish with Owensboro winning 10-3.
On the mound for Owensboro was Alyssa Rhineburger who had 1 strikeout and allowed 8 hits across 7 innings. Hayley Sikes had 3 RBIs and scored 1 run while Rhineburger and Ellington Embry both had 1. Hessi Johnson hit a double and scored 3 runs, and Addison Hill and Emmi Connor both scored 2 runs.
THS 7, Edmonson Co. 0
Trinity hosted Edmonson County at home where they had a big 7-0 win.
Trinity gained the lead early with 1 run in the first inning. They steadily grew their lead with 1 run in the second and 1 in the third. In the fourth inning the Lady Raiders had a big 4-run performance to all but close out the game. THS held Edmonson scoreless in the final three innings to come out with the 7-0 win.
On the mound for Trinity was Sophie Hatfield with 9 strikeouts and 4 hits across 7 innings. Hatfield also had success at the plate as she hit a home run, a double, had 3 RBIs, and scored 1 run off of 3 hits. Kendall Howard hit a double, had 2 RBIs, 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Georgia Howard and Emma Whitehouse both hit a double and had 1 RBI each. Whitehouse, Sarah Payne and Kylie Hatfield all scored 1 run each as well.
