Trinity faced off against the Owensboro Lady Knights, and they secured the sole win on the day as Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic both were defeated on the road.
Union Co. 14, OHS 4
Owensboro traveled to Union County where they suffered a tough 14-4 loss.
The opening inning went scoreless before Union County had a big 9-run performance in the second. OHS got on the board with 3 runs in the top of the third, but Union scored 2 to keep the score further from reach. The Lady Red Devils continued to fight back as they scored 1 run in the fourth, but Union scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning and another in the fifth to take the 14-4 win.
On the mound for the Lady Red Devils was Alyssa Rhineburger, who had 1 strikeout and allowed 7 hits across 2 innings, and Railey Scott who had 1 strikeout and allowed 5 hits across 2 innings. At the plate, Hessi Johnson hit a home run, had 2 RBIs and scored 1 run. Addison Hill had 1 RBI, and Ellington Embry, Emmi Connor and Reese Boswell all scored 1 run each.
Jasper, IN 3, OCHS 0
Owensboro Catholic traveled to Indiana where they fell short against Jasper in a 3-0 defeat.
Jasper got an early lead after they scored a run in the opening inning. After a scoreless second inning, Jasper extended their lead with 2 final runs in the third. Catholic shut down Jasper for the remainder of the game, but they couldn’t bring the score back and were defeated 3-0.
Hannah Robbins was on the mound to lead the Lady Aces defense, and she had 1 strikeout and allowed 6 hits across 6 innings. At the plate, Hannah Tignor, Maci Merritt and Lily Logsdon all had 1 hit.
THS 8, Owensboro Knights Christian 0
Trinity hosted the Owensboro Lady Knights at home, and the Lady Raiders had no trouble securing an 8-0 victory.
The first inning saw Trinity take the lead early with 1 run. They added two to their tally in the second and 1 more in the third. They continued their momentum with 3 runs in the fourth inning while continuing to shut down the Lady Knights on defense. Sophie Hatfield showed out on the mound as she racked up 13 strikeouts white only allowing 2 hits across 7 innings. THS scored 1 final run in the sixth inning to take the 8-0 win.
At the plate, Sarah Payne hit a home run, a double, had 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs. Kylie Hatfield hit a double, had 1 RBI and scored 1 run, and Ella Morris and Kendall Howard both had 1 RBI each. Madison McDaniel hit a triple and scored 2 runs, Sophie Hatfield hit a triple and scored 1 run, Kirsten Mills hit a triple and scored 1 run and Georgia Howard scored 1 run as well.
