Owensboro Catholic’s regular season came to a close after they won both games of their double header. OCHS faced off against McCracken County at home where they won 6-2, and then they took to the road and had a comfortable 10-3 win against Lyon County. The Lady Aces finished with a regular season record of 14-13.
Catholic kicked off their game against McCracken with a big 4-run performance in the opening inning to give them an early lead. Both teams held each other scoreless in the second and third innings before OCHS added 1 run to their lead in the fourth. McCracken got on the board with their only 2 runs of the game in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Aces got 1 of those runs back in the bottom of the inning to keep a firm hold on the game. Catholic shut down McCracken in the final 2 innings to secure the 6-2 win.
On the mound for the Lady Aces was Hannah Robbins who had 1 strikeout and allowed 5 hits across 7 innings. At the plate, Robbins also had 2 RBIs, and Tyranda Stuart had an RBI with 1 run scored. Maci Merritt and Gracie Dukate both had 1 RBI, and Maren Riney, Hannah Tignor, Lily Logsdon, Taylor Winstead and Ruth Jones all scored 1 run each.
In their game against Lyon County, the Lady Aces started off hot again as they held a 3-0 lead going into the second inning. They jumped out ahead after scoring 4 runs in the third inning, Lyon got on the board not long after with 1 run in the fourth. OCHS added to their tally with 2 more runs in the fifth inning to put the score at 9-1. The sixth inning saw Catholic score 1 final run in the top of the sixth before Lyon scored 2 in the bottom of the inning. Catholic shut down Lyon in the seventh to close out the 10-3 win.
Riney was on the mound for the Lady Aces this time around and she recorded 3 strikeouts while allowing 6 hits across 7 innings. Emma Riney had a big game at the plate as she hit a home run, had 5 RBIs and scored 1 run. Stuart had 1 RBI and scored 2 runs, Tignor had 1 RBI and scored 1 run and Merritt had 1 RBI as well. Jones scored 2 runs and Logsdon, Dukate, Winstead and Kailey Hamilton all scored 1 run each.
